KS Tuition provides support classes throughout the year, normally given in the early evening or Saturdays, and additional intensive revision courses of one or more weeks’ duration during the Christmas break, Easter and the summer holiday.
Although we recognise the vital importance of outstanding grades at all levels we believe that examination success is achieved not by intensive tuition alone but by young people wishing to learn for themselves and be motivated by a love of learning and discovery. Our highly qualified tutors will identify the capabilities of each students and tailor their learning to individual needs. Our students succeed because they wish to succeed for their own satisfaction and have a hunger for knowledge. Our small tutorial groups ensure interaction between students and our tutors and one-to-one teaching is provided to develop individual capabilities.
At KS we provide much more than standard intensive tuition. We believe that education is at the very core of preparing young people for a successful and happy life. We recognise that learning does not always come naturally and that we have to acquire techniques to train our mind. Under the guidance of our dedicated tutors we will enable pupils to develop a love of learning which will allow them to develop academic confidence and successfully meet life challenges. Through our teaching we will permit the development of the whole person to include the values of compassion and considerate behaviour towards others and the environment. We firmly believe that this approach to the training of young minds is the best way of achieving lifelong happiness and outstanding academic success.
Pupils will be allocated to a specific timetabled sessions which are arranged to meet individual needs such as traveling time either on a weekday evening or weekend. Normal tuition sessions are timetabled for two hours.
The free assessment and trial session allows your child to view the learning environment in action and we to understand your child’s learning needs. The session lasts approximately one hour, during which your child will be introduced to the KS team and initially assessed for their working levels by one of the tutors. It will also provide a chance for you to discuss your child’s requirements in depth and establish your goals in order to enable the team to begin to tailor a tuition scheme.
Yes. The KS Tuition curriculum is aligned to the National Curriculum. Our tutors are trained to teach using curriculum approved teaching methods to ensure that the children have consistency with how they learn at school. This means that your child can always take the skills and knowledge that they have acquired at KS back into the school classroom.
At KS we recognise the benefit that one –to-one teaching can have as for example in giving detailed advice on written work at the same time we believe that small group learning brings many benefits with pupils learning from each other as well as tutor. We therefore operate with a maximum of a staff student ratio of one to six. We feel that this creates a good balance of support for the children whilst encouraging them to work independently to help gain confidence.
All of our tutors are highly qualified and experienced with a detailed knowledge of curriculum requirements. They teach using a range of educational resources and methods that adapt to each child’s individual ability, challenging them at exactly the right level. By getting to know each child as an individual the tutors also play an essential role in boosting their confidence and motivation to learn.
